Michael Faust, Chairman, Chief Executive officer and president
In August 2019, the Company appointed Michael Faust as Chairman, Chief Executive officer and President of SAE. Mr. Faust joined SAE’s Board in January 2017 and most recently served as the Lead Independent Director. Since March 2019, Mr. Faust has served as the interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Obsidian Energy Ltd., a Canadian-listed public company in the oil and natural gas industry and he also served on its Board of Directors since April 2018. Since March 2019, Mr. Faust served on the Board of Directors of Parker Drilling Company, a US-listed provider of drilling services and rental tools to the energy industry in the US and international markets. Previously, Mr. Faust had a long career of increasing responsibilities with ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips. Mr. Faust earned his Master of Arts degree in Geophysics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984, after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Washington in 1981.
JOHN SIMMONS, VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
In May 2020, the Company appointed John Simmons as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SAE. Mr. Simmons previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Dauphine Energy, a privately held oil and gas company. Prior to that, Mr. Simmons spent 17 years with BHP Petroleum where he held various positions including serving as member of the Executive Leadership Team and Head of Global Planning. Served as Chief Financial Officer of Petrohawk Energy following its acquisition by BHP Petroleum. Mr. Simmons has extensive experience in acquisitions and divestitures having been on commercial teams involving both domestic and international upstream assets. During BHP’s expansion in the deep-water GOM, Mr. Simmons was the senior finance executive on a team that successfully executed multiple development projects. Mr. Simmons has a Bachelor of Science from McNeese State University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
Mike Scott, Executive Vice President of Operations
Mr. Scott began his career in the geophysical industry in the mid-1970s. Over the course of his career, he advanced to senior management positions in both North and South America. In 1985, Mr. Scott co-founded Venture Seismic Ltd., a Canadian seismic acquisition business. As Executive Vice-President of Venture, Mr. Scott oversaw operations and played an integral role in growing the company. In 1991, he sold his shares and joined Veritas, an international seismic services company. During his 20-year tenure at Veritas, Mr. Scott was consistently promoted into more senior roles, culminating in the role of VP North America Land. He made significant contributions to the company’s growth through market expansion, strategic positioning and implementation of a comprehensive HSE&Q management system. In 2011, Mr. Scott left CGGVeritas to bring his extensive operational, managerial and leadership expertise to SAExploration as Executive Vice-President of Operations.
David Rassin, Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer
Mr. Rassin is Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer of SAE. In addition to leading the Legal Department at SAE, Mr. Rassin is responsible for the Company’s Human Resources and IT functions. Prior to joining the Company in April 2020, Mr. Rassin served as Sr. Counsel – International and Director of Ethics and Compliance for Patterson-UTI, a publicly-traded oilfield services company based in Houston. Mr. Rassin served in previous roles as Compliance Counsel for Chicago Bridge & Iron and as an Anticorruption Attorney for KBR, Inc. Mr. Rassin started his legal career at a Houston law firm, focusing primarily on litigation and general commercial practice. Mr. Rassin received his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary.
Darin Silvernagle, Senior Vice President Marine Operations
Mr. Silvernagle embarked on his career in the geophysical services industry in the mid-1980s. Mr. Silvernagle has worked extensively in the land seismic industry including assignments in the diverse operating environments of Canada, the Canadian Arctic, the North Slope of Alaska, the US Lower 48, the Middle East and South America. Mr. Silvernagle spent 10 years in the field, supporting roles for all aspects of the crew operations. In 1994, he began a journey with Veritas. Over the next 17 years, he grew with them through Veritas DGC Land and finally CGGVeritas. Mr. Silvernagle held a variety of roles including Technical Manager of North and South America and VP of Resources for the Global Land Division. In these roles, Mr. Silvernagle managed all aspects of technical operations in both field and office locations. In 2011, Mr. Silvernagle joined SAE as Executive Vice President of Technology and Marine Technology. He provides in-depth understanding of all seismic acquisition techniques and the technologies behind them. His leadership skills have helped to build the strongest technical teams in the industry.
Forrest Burkholder, Vice President of Land Operations
Forrest Burkholder started his career in the geophysical industry in the mid 1980s, holding various field operations positions in North and South America. Prior to joining SAExploration in 2011, he worked for Veritas in management roles for both Land Library and Land Acquisition in Anchorage, Houston and Calgary. Mr. Burkholder has played a significant role in implementing new field operations technologies and HSE systems that are industry standards today. His vast operational experience continues to assist SAE and its clients with improving all aspects of field operations and data quality.
Arturo Mendez Pardo, Vice President of South America Operations
Arturo Mendez Pardo, Professional Geologist, joined the geophysical industry in 1991 after graduating from the National University of Colombia. During his career, he worked in various field and management positions throughout North and South America, including Corporate HSE Manager at Veritas DGC in Houston. This internship role, reporting to the Senior Vice President of HSE, was designed to give senior operations management the experience necessary to ensure HSE became a fundamental component of all business decisions, a tradition that continues to this day. In 2006, Mr. Mendez Pardo and a handful of select industry professionals founded SAE. In developing the company, he served as SAE’s general manager in several South American countries and was fundamental in growing the business and forming the foundation of what SAE is today.
Mark Farine, Vice President Business Development
Mark Farine joined Digicon Geophysical’s engineering department in 1982, marking the start of his geophysical industry career. Two years later, he moved to the engineering department of Syntron Inc where he helped develop the Syntron digital streamer system. When Sercel acquired Syntron in 1999, Mr. Farine was named Vice President of Sales & Marketing for North and South America, also assuming global responsibility for the Sercel Marine product line. After 27 years, he left Sercel to become CEO for PanAmerican Geophysical. In August 2012, Mr. Farine joined SAExploration as Vice President of Business Development with a focus on marine OBN and new market land acquisition markets.
Bruce McFarlane, Vice President Technology and Shared Services
Bruce McFarlane began his geophysical exploration career in 1995 with Veritas in Canada where he held various operations roles across many different environments and regions. He completed his time at CGGVeritas as a Field Service Engineer. Since joining SAE in 2012, Mr. McFarlane has helped grow SAE into an integrated logistics and geophysical company, taking on the role of the Global Technical Manager in 2016. Under his leadership, the R&D and technical groups have been instrumental in giving SAE a competitive edge as the company became an early implementor of nodal technologies and high-density seismic acquisition across the globe.
