OBN (Ocean Bottom Node) or OBC (Ocean Bottom Cable) can be the best way to achieve a well-sampled, high signal-to-noise dataset over a relatively small area when high resolution is a requirement. Our processing tools and experience from around the world have provided proof of our methodologies and capabilities. Key factors in OBN/OBC data processing are the abilities to attenuate the V(Z) noise, separate the up-going and down-going wavefields, and migrate these wavefields appropriately. Our proprietary processing tools (e.g., up-going/down-going deconvolution, mirror migration, source de-blending) have been commercially tested and proven successful in achieving project goals.
Marine broadband processing is now an industry standard procedure designed to complement broadband acquisition and to also allow generation of broadband data (by de-ghosting) from legacy datasets. SAExploration have been in the forefront of these solutions for nearly a decade and have won numerous industry trials for both source and receiver de-ghosting. For recovering broadband data from legacy seismic data, our technique is data driven, completely intuitive and customizable. At the beginning, nominal field depths and standard values are used to calculate an initial synthetic combined source and receiver ghost spectrum. The estimated synthetic ghost spectrum is then compared to the true spectrum extracted from the data by scanning each trace. Iterative parameter perturbation, spectrum calculation and matching processes follow which yield a final set of ghost parameter values, which in turn provide optimal ghost inversion to generate an operator that can then be applied to generate a complete broadband dataset. If required, parameters that are derived trace-by-trace can be smoothed across p-values, receivers and/or sources, if required, or alternatively applied trace-by-trace as estimated. One particular benefit of our approach is the amount of data we generate for quality control and review.
Advanced Multiple Attenuation
Multiple attenuation is a standard requirement in every marine processing workflow. Our advanced processing tools are complete with both 2D and 3D solutions for shallow-, mid- and deep-water environments. The toolset contains wave equation, convolutional, parametric and deterministic, and image processing solutions. Both 2D and 3D tools are available for interbed multiple attenuation along with a specific tool for attenuation of multiple diffractions.
